No-Sew Pillows, Online Fabric Store Giveaway, and Party Time!

So you know I don’t sew.  In fact the one time I tried (with my brand new machine) I broke the needle and gave up.  So when Online Fabric Store approached me for a review, I was a little nervous, but they have such gorgeous fabrics, I just couldn’t pass them up!  I have ‘mastered’ the art of using fabric glue, and that’s just what I did to make these great new pillows for my living room.

..Allow me to show you the old pillows..

Some of these were recovered using fabric glue a couple of years ago; they’ve held up beautifully despite my family’s abuse! But it’s time to go.
I was tired of the look, the fabric was worn and starting to look dingy.
These are the beautiful fabrics I ordered from Online Fabric Store {swoon}!
Ordering was super simple on their site, and the fabric arrived really fast! The fabrics are high in quality, and durable.  They arrived a little wrinkled due to shipping, but that’s to be expected and a very easy fix.

{Fabric Info}
From the top left {counterclockwise}:
I love to mix patterns, but there should be a strategy when doing so (according to me).  I like a floral, a linear or stripe, and a solid in coordinating colors.  I adore these fabrics together, and if you can imagine, they look even better in person!
If you want to recover your pillows the ‘no-sew’ way, listen up:
All you need is fabric (about 3/4 yd. per pillow), fabric glue, sharp scissors, and….a flat iron.  Yes typically a tool for your hair, and the skinnier the better!

Steps:
1.Plug in your flat iron.
2.  Lay your fabric out.
3. Cut enough to wrap around your pillow with some give on the sides.
4. Fold the edges long-ways.

5. Add a thin line of glue along the folded edge, and press the fabric together with your hands.
6. Using your hot flat iron, run it over the pieces that are glued together, to ‘seal’ it.
This cuts your drying time in half, and sets the glue.

For the top closure:
7. Tuck the fabric in as if you would to sew a hem on a pair of pants (if you sew, unlike me), add the glue in the same way as before, and holding it as taught as you can, press it down, and seal it with your hot iron.

There’s really nothing to it.  I made a total of 7 pillows in just a couple of hours!
A little change like simply updating the fabrics in your home can make such a big difference!
