In 2010 I participated in the Avonwalk for Breast Cancer, a 39 mile walk over 2 days in beautiful Santa Barbara to raise money for the disease. I didn’t have a personal reason, I just signed up because I wanted to raise money for a worthy cause, and getting a little exercise couldn’t hurt.
This turned out to be one of the most difficult challenges of my life!
The effects of walking 39 miles up hill in just 2 days on my body was one thing, but before the walk, the fundraising piece was so difficult, many times I was tempted to give up. I decided to became part of a local training group not only to aid in fundraising, but also for the support I needed that only another ‘walker’ could provide.
This is where I met my friend Betsy. Betsy was our group leader, and was participating in the walk to honor the loss of her best friend, who’d lost the battle to breast cancer just a few years before.
I was complaining about having to raise $1800 in just a few months, yet Betsy rejoiced while doing the same thing–she had a purpose, I clung to her purpose and pressed on.

As Betsy began her training, she also began a wonderful new chapter in her life. 2010 started out rough for Bets and her family as her husband found himself out of work. She held on to her faith in Christ and took a leap into her own business to keep the family afloat. Betsy became a Lia Sophia Jewelry advisor and hasn’t looked back!
Not only has she been successful in helping to support her family, but she continues to dedicate her time and energies to raise funds for the cause. This is one special lady!
Betsy’s made so many wonderful new friends along the way, AND she’s prettied all of us up with beautiful Lia Sophia jewelry!
So I’m ELATED to share with you that Betsy is sponsoring a Lia Sophia giveaway for one YOU lucky readers!
The Co-Star Necklace has a cutout pendant that is a matte gold oval lavished with hematite cut crystals. Its four-strand matte gold chain is adjustable from 18-21″ and has a lobster claw clasp. This is the same necklace worn by Melissa Leo after she won her Oscar for THE FIGHTER and she was being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey! This is a limited time piece as it is no longer available for retail.
A huge thanks to my good friend Betsy for sponsoring this giveaway! Continue to press on my friend! XO!
